The Brenthurst Foundation's Focus Areas: Policy Advisement
The Brenthurst Foundation's Involvement: The Brenthurst Foundation was established in October 2004. It originated in the Brenthurst Initiative of August 2003, a program that instigated a debate in South Africa around policy strategies to achieve higher rates of economic expansion for the successful transformation and Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment in South Africa required a sustained higher economic growth rate of at least 5% per annum. The Brenthurst Initiative paved the way for the creation of the Brenthurst Foundation to extend the debate, and the sharing of the ideas and information, in support of all African countries. Since its inception in 2004, the Foundation has regularly brought together the world's leading thinkers and practitioners - from finance ministers and military chiefs to renowned scholars and UN officials - to consider ways to enhance the continent's economic growth and development.
